Section 1: Core Mindset & Will (All Trades)

  •  Are you comfortable doing physically demanding work in hot, cold, or confined environments?
     
  • Can you stay focused on a task for long periods without constant supervision?
     
  • How do you respond when a job takes longer than expected or doesn’t go as planned?
     
  • Are you willing to keep learning as codes, tools, and technology change?
     
  • Can you accept responsibility when a mistake could affect safety, cost, or performance?
     
  • How do you handle repetitive tasks that require precision and consistency?
     
  • Are you comfortable starting early, working long days, or being on call when needed?
     
  • Can you take direction from experienced tradespeople and apply feedback immediately?
     
  • Are you willing to build your reputation over time rather than expecting fast results?
     
  • Do you take pride in work that most people will never see once it’s finished?

Section 2: Mechanical Aptitude & Problem-Solving

  •  Do you enjoy figuring out how things work—and why they fail?
     
  • Can you visualize systems that are hidden behind walls, underground, or inside equipment?
     
  • How comfortable are you reading diagrams, blueprints, or schematics?
     
  • Can you break a complex problem into smaller, logical steps?
     
  • Are you comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment?
     
  • Do you double-check your work before calling a job complete?
     
  • Can you adapt when plans change in the field?
     
  • Are you patient when troubleshooting problems that don’t have obvious solutions?

Section 3: Safety Awareness (Non-Negotiable)

  • Do you consistently follow safety procedures even when no one is watching?
     
  • Are you comfortable wearing protective equipment for long periods?
     
  • Can you recognize when a job site or system is unsafe—and stop work if needed?
     
  • Do you understand that shortcuts can put lives and property at risk?
     
  • Are you willing to speak up if something doesn’t look right?
